This is e-book I created as an example and model for my future students who are learning about how to create eBooks. The story can also be used to teach examples and non-examples of animals that can be found at the zoo, to a certain extent. eBooks are a great way to help build literacy and storytelling skills in all students, even as young as elementary school. One of the things I learned from creating my eBook was the benefit of clip art cites that have copy-right free artwork you can download and use. I also learned how easy it is to use online tools to create eBooks when I used mystorybook.com to create my own. They had images and ideas available, and you could add your own images as needed. The creation system is similar to the one on Weebly.
Standards: ISTE Standards for Teachers and Students 3a: Demonstrate fluency in technology systems and the transfer of current knowledge to new technologies and situations This eBook shows my fluency creating eBooks and shows my students how to create one through example. UDL 1.2: Offer alternatives for auditory information Instead of learning how to make an eBook from a lecture, this eBook allows students to learn by a visual example. Young students also can learn more about the zoo with this eBook instead of being taught verbally. UDL 5.1: Use multiple media for communication This eBook meets these guidelines because it uses text and pictures to tell the story. It can be read online and/or printed into a book.
