I created a mind map and video tutorial of how to properly use tracing paper to trace an image. This is intended for older students, but could be used to inspire a lesson with tracing paper for younger students. While creating this video, I realized that it could be used in two ways: to teach students and to inspire lesson ideas for teachers. For my future classroom, making tutorials is something I will use as an example for students creating tutorials and to teach visual and audio learners.
Standards:
VA:Cr1.1.7a: Apply methods to overcome creative blocks. This standard is met because the technique of tracing is a method to help people get exact proportions of their drawing subject. Those who are just starting to learn how to draw may not be able to draw the proportions without tracing paper.
VA:Cr1.2.3a: Apply knowledge of available resources, tools, and technologies to investigate personal ideas through the art-making process. Students can use the tool, tracing paper, during their art process to investigate personal ideas.
UDL 1.1: Offer ways of customizing the display of information This information can be learned through the mind map, the closed captioning on the video, and/or from the visuals in the video.
